Street Art, Mercer St, NYC, 2020 captured just ahead of the 270+ win w. Pennsylvania for Biden/Harris.

At the time that this mix was performed, the 2020 US Presidential Election was still not yet decided, but it was trending in a direction where Biden/Harris were looking like they would seal the electoral votes needed as each batch of votes trickled in from  the remaining battleground states of Pennsylvania, Georgia, Nevada, Arizona and North Carolina. For me and my immediate family, there was a spark of light at the end of a long 4 year tunnel.

The following day, Saturday November 7th, my wife and I were strolling through Soho in NYC taking care of some errands when we started hearing screaming, shouting, car horns, metal pots and general protest like activity as we were walking north up Mercer Street around 11 am. A quick check of the phone displayed Text Messages, News Blurbs, Tweets that Pennsylvania had been called for Biden/Harris. There was an energy in the city that had been pent up by the residents here this past 4 years. There was a burst of relief. You could feel it all around. We traversed through Washington Square Park which has been a meeting place for such political events for years. It felt good, real good, that this country’s voice will return to an improved sense of decency across the globe in the not so distant future.

As of now, the election is not quite officially over as of yet as all the votes must continue to be counted and of course any legal battles to delay the inevitable.

Anyway, this week’s 3 hour Friday Throwdow was a release in the anticipation of what was later revealed the following day. Some tension, some happiness, exhilaration with still a bit of caution, fear and darkness. Feature quite a few Breaks, Acid, House and Techno.
