On the tech/streaming front, I picked up a new capture card this week that popped up in a feed. It’s an EVGA XR1 that is OBS hardware certified. This is the first card to bear that badge. It’s an affordable card with respectable capture specs. EVGA and Amazon have sold out already on the first batch. I love the promo copy on the EVGA page where DJ Z Trip and a few other dj’s endorse it… so I just HAD TO get it! ;P DJ ZTrip is badass though…
To get it working on the Mac as the video would go black in 3 seconds after connecting an HDMI source. It took borrowing my son’s Asus rog zephyrus g14 PC laptop, install the Windows 10 driver to unlock the HDCP feature. From there, I was able to ditch my other usb sound interface (an old Art Phono PreAmp used for digitizing vinyl back in the 90’s) that I was using. Ultimately, I cut down on number of devices connected to the streaming MacBookPro by 1. Audio and Video quality seems quite good from reviewing this first archived set completed at 60 fps, FHD 1920×1080.
